The film King of Devil’s Island (Kongen av Bastøy, 2010), by Norwegian director Marius Holst, has been granted the 4+1 Audience Award for the 2011 edition, winning nearly 90% of the votes submitted by the festival’s audience in Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Madrid and Rio de Janeiro.
King of Devil’s Island stars Stellan Skarsgård and was a major box-office success in Norway. The film is based on real-life events and tells the story of an uprising that took place in 1915 inside a sinister reformatory located on an island in one of Norway’s fjords.
